Industrial Laminating Applications
Electronics _ EMI Shielding
Bostik manufactures copolyester polyurethane adhesives that are designed to bond foil to fim for EMI sheilding in cable wrap applications. They are tough, extensible adhesives that allow the wrap to stretch without breaking to the foil layer and all allowing for disruption of the shielding element.
Electronics - Photovoltaic Back Sheets
Bostik manufactures solvent-based laminating adhesives for phoo voltaic back sheet laminations. These amorphous copolyester resins can be cross-linked using an aliphatic isocyanate. Once cross linked, the adhesive exhibits excellent adhesion to the PVF, PET or EVA films used in this application and are exceptionally durable in humid aging tests.
Bostik was an earlier player in the lamination of PVF Films in the aerospace industry. We translated this expertise to the lamination of PET to Tedlar to heat seal media for photovoltaic back sheet. Bostik's newest product provides exceptional durability and perform well in the standard 2000 hour aging tests. In addition we are working closely with our customers and suppliers on novel structures utilizing other heat stable materials. We have tailored curatives that provide a good balance of cure rate and stability in harsh environmental conditions.
Sail Cloth
Vitel copolyester resins are used as the basis of sail cloth adhesives. We formulate a variety of adhesives for use in these high strength composite systems. We can provide solutions or resins for use in wet laminating or heat seal systems to build up sail cloth for the most demanding applications. These adhesives can be used for PET Film/PET Film laminates as well as PET Film/PET Fabric Laminates.
Inks and Coatings
Vitel Copolyester resins were origionally developed as adhesives and coatings for PET fims. Our Vitel 2000 series products form the basis for inks and coatings used to stick to PET films, PVC films, treated polyolefins and other difficult to adhere to substrates.
These coatings can be formulated for demanding applications such as appliance labels were durability is important. With the correct curative systems these formulated coatings can be made non-blocking and resistant to chemical attack. We can also provide fuly formulated materials with glossy or matte finishes.
Window Films
Solar control films and anti-theft films are made using Vitel Copolyester resins as the basis of the adhesive. These applications bring together metallized or dyed films to provide effective solar control or security in automotive or window films.
Bostik can supply laminating adhesives and scratch resistant top coatings for this market. Bostik has a wide variety of adhesives choices that can be applied and cured to form a strong, clear bond with exceptional weathering. We have tailored solutions that meet the needs of specific customers in this application.
Reflective Materials
A combination of technologies including hot melt systems based on polymers such as EVA for yogurt wrapping, heat seal lidding materials under the TEE trade name and solvent borne lacquers fir dairy lidding under the HSL name. We also produce Vitel Copolyester Resins suitable for extrusion coating, coextrusion or solvent cast heat seal coatings on PET film.
Can Coatings
Bostik manufactures copolyester resins that are suitble for use as base resins in interior and exterior food can applications. These resins are BADGE free. We can also custom formulate solutions for coating as well as powders for thermal stripe applications.
These resins can be used in direct food contact applications covered by a variety of international regulations. In this market, Bostik acts as a resin supplier and supplier of solutions. We do not supply finished can coatings.
